A CHURCH IS NOT A CHURCH UNLESS LIVES ARE BEING TRANSFORMED.
Exodus 34:22 “Celebrate the Feast of Weeks with the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of In gathering at the turn of the year.
Numbers 15:21 “From the first of your dough you shall give to the Lord an offering throughout your generations.
What are First Fruits?
First Fruits is an offering given to God at the time of the harvest. The people of Israel would take the first ripened fruit of the harvest and offer it to God in thanks for his provision throughout the previous year. This offering showed God gratitude for what He had done, with an expectancy of what He would do in the next year. First Fruits comes with several blessing or reasons to give. I will list the main 3 reasons.
The Blessing of First Fruit
1. Blessing on Finances
First Fruits are giving the first portion to God. Romans 11:16 says, “If the part of the dough offered as first fruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches”. Giving the first portion of your finances to God will cause all of your finances for the rest of the year to be holy.
First Fruits causes God to treat your finances as holy giving you favor with God because your finances are connected to the First Fruit offering.
1. Blessing on Your Home
Ezekiel 44:30 “The first of all the first fruits of every kind and every contribution of every kind, from all your contributions, shall be fore the priests: you shall also give to the priest the first of your dough to cause a blessing to rest on your house.
First Fruits imparts a blessing on your home. Many times a financial blessing is not our main need or concern. Having a blessing on your home positions you to have healing in your physical, spiritual and emotional needs for you and your family. When you give First Fruits not only do you benefit but your saved and unsaved loved ones do also.
1. Blessing of Abundance
Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine”.
The most important reason to give First Fruits is that it is an act of worship. First Fruits bring honor to God and abundance to us. By giving the first to God we are showing Him that He is the most important one in our lives.
How to Give First Fruits
Nehemiah 10:35 reads “and that they might bring the first fruits of our ground and the first fruits of all the fruit of every tree to the house of the Lord annually”…
Brought to the House of God
Deuteronomy 26:2 that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the ground which you bring in from your land that the LORD your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to establish His name”.
Given to the Priest
Lev. 23:10-11 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, “When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. “He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD for you to be accepted: on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.
Do I give First Fruits off the Gross or Net?
First Fruits are given just as they sound like, first. So they should be given out of your gross pay. When time for First Fruits came they wouldn’t even eat until the priest would accept their offering (Leviticus 23:14).
What is the First Fruits offering in 2016?
Where will my First Fruits offering go?
BOLFC has dedicated our First Fruits offerings to the Priest of the House, we believe that sowing to our Priest that the blessings of God will multiply and our First Fruit offering will cause a release of anointing to rest throughout the year, and favor with God and man will multiply perpetually upon the Apostle’s request: Do not come to the Apostle and say,”Apostle, after January I’m going to get my First Fruits In.”
